A new year. A clean slate. Potential. Promise. It’s all before us.

To celebrate the new year, I will be posting one of the following quotes each day in January on my social media accounts. Hope you enjoy them throughout this month!20151. “Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher

2. “There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” ~ C.S. Lewis

3. “I am the new year…I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance to Him who said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’” ~ Unknown

4. “Leave the broken, irreversible past in His hands, and step out into the invincible future with Him.” ~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

5. “Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.” ~ Jonathan Edwards

6. “My determined purpose is to be my utmost for His highest—my best for His glory.” ~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

7. “Of all persons the Christian should be best prepared for whatever the New Year brings. He has dealt with life at its source. In Christ he has disposed of a thousand enemies that other men must face alone and unprepared. He can face his tomorrow cheerful and unafraid because yesterday he turned his feet into the ways of peace and today he lives in God. The man who has made God his dwelling place will always have a safe habitation.” ~ A.W. Tozer, The Warfare of the Spirit

8. “We enter a new year to live it day by day. What is past is past. Today we start anew, and what we do today will make our life for tomorrow. Chin up, shoulders straight, eyes agleam, let us salute the New Year, and each day let us follow more faithfully, more courageously, more daringly the lead of our great Captain who bids us follow Him.” ~ William Thomson Hanzsche

9. “God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future.” ~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

10. “If this is to be a Happy New Year, a year of usefulness, a year in which we shall live to make this earth better, it is because God will direct our pathway. How important then, to feel our dependence upon Him!” ~ Matthew Simpson

11. “We don’t know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future!” ~ Unknown

12. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” ~ Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

13. “Good habits are not made on birthdays, nor Christian character at the New Year. The workshop of character is everyday life. The uneventful and commonplace hour is where the battle is lost or won.” ~ Maltbie Davenport Babcock

14. “Resolved, never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do if it were the last hour of my life.” ~ Jonathan Edwards

15. “What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year.” ~ Vern McLellan

Nor be easily offended;
What’s amiss I’ll strive to mend,
And endure what can’t be mended.”

19. “The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.” (Psalms 138:8 NLT)

20. “I said to a man who stood at the gate of the year: ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown’; and he replied, ‘Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than a light and safer than a known way!’” King George VI, quoting from a poem by M. L. Harkins.

He wipes the slate clean and goes back to zero so we can be filled up again with His spirit and give it out all day long. Enjoy the blessings of a new year, in Christ, one day at a time!” ~ Debbie Carroccio
